July Fourth

Dave and I went with Lance and Jen down to the Cape for July 4th weekend, where the (Lancey) Dial's have a house.

We went fishing. Everyone cought a fish. It took me three tries. One time the fish got off the bait on its own. One time Lance dropped it as he was getting it off the hook. Third time the charm, at which point my arms were really tired. But I needed that fish or I'd never hear the end of it from John, who'd whined for at least an hour and a half about not having cought one on his first try, and how everyone had got a fish but him. Then he got one. Lets just say John is a sore loser and a sore winner...

The only good thing was that apparently I look like a pro while reeling it in. John did not look professional. Or at least no one commented much on his style. John still refuses to believe I'd actually never fished like this before. Catching a baby fish of a dinghy 15 years ago doesn't really count.

Next day we went to the beach. Someone had dug a big hole in the sand. As we all know, when there's a big hole in the sand, one must jump over it. Repeatedly. So the boys had a jumping competition. I think Lance won. He also faceplanted twice. He was both the high and low of this competition. It was a good day.
